Last-minute deals: Tuesday to Thursday, between 10am-2pm works best. People are planning their week and looking for dinner options. Weekend emails get buried in the social noise.

Regular newsletters: Thursday mornings hit the sweet spot. People are thinking about weekend plans but haven't locked anything in yet.

The data also showed that businesses sending emails at optimal times saw significantly higher open rates and, more importantly, actual bookings. It's not just about getting opened — it's about getting results.

  1. Your birthday campaigns are probably too late. If you're sending birthday emails on the actual day, you've missed the boat. People book birthday dinners days or even weeks in advance. Start sending these at least a week early, when they're still in planning mode, not celebration mode.
  2. Last-minute doesn't mean last-second. Those "tonight only" deals you're firing out at 5pm? Most people have already sorted dinner by then. Mid-week mornings catch people when they're actually making decisions about where to eat later.
  3. Your regular emails need better timing. Sending your weekly specials on Monday morning means they're competing with work stress. Thursday morning newsletters arrive when people are already thinking about the weekend but haven't made firm plans yet.

First up, audit your current email schedule. Check when you're sending birthday campaigns, deals, and regular updates. If you're hitting send whenever you remember, you're leaving money on the table.

Schedule them to go out 10 days before birthdays, with a follow-up 3 days before. Make the offer compelling — free dessert, drink on the house, or a percentage off their meal.
